About the FREEDOM 2 Light

The F2 Light is the lightweight version of our certified EN B Freedom2. It sets new benchmarks for comfort and performance in the EN B class. Packed with cutting-edge technology like the Hybrid 3-2 liner, VPA system, shark nose, and updated risers, it stands as a pioneer in the EN B Class category.

Additionally, it features Nitinol rods, further enhancing its lightweight design and reinforcing its position in the class.

F2 Light is currently going through certification. It is planned to be released in April 2024.

Pre-orders are open.

Freedom 2 – EN C performance in an EN B package?

Yes. The Freedom 2 offers unprecedented performance gains for the EN B class.

A glider packed with state-of-the-art tech.

  • Hybrid 3-2 line layout
  • Efficient rear riser steering
  • Advanced shark nose airfoil
  • 4 ways split A attachment point VPA (Variable pressure A-Attachment)
  •  Semi lightweight construction

Flight comfort is paramount to flying a glider at its maximum, and we paid special attention to that.

Flight comfort is only achieved with a combination of many factors, such as:
Pitch stability, airfoil solidity, easy and efficient rear riser steering, easy launching and good flare, good top-end speed, excellent glide, refined roll and bank in thermals, good feedback pressure through brake line and handles, light speed bar pressure and light and durable canopy.
We have addressed all those points in detail on the Freedom 2.
An exciting and sporty package with EN B safety.

In addition to the hybrid 3-2 liner technology, which reduces drag drastically, offering huge gains in glide, the Freedom2 also has a new shark nose.

Unique for the Freedom 2, we are introducing a new 4 ways split-A 3D A-attachment point system.
Adding a new level of solidity and collapse resistance to the EN B class. We call it VPA (Variable pressure A-Attachment).

The new 4 ways A-attachment point enhances the leading edge's structural stability, keeping the AoA positive, even when the glider’s AoA is at negative angles. It’s a better geometrical solution and helps share the forces evenly throughout the leading-edge span. The increased solidity is noticeable, especially when gliding at speed in turbulent air.

The 3D A-Attachment point creates VPA (Variable pressure A-Attachment). At trim speed, the pressure is more even in all 4 split attachment points.
When launching, during the pulling of the inflation phase, the pressure is at the very front lines of the “4-line split”. Resulting in quick and easy inflations.

It’s at speed where the VPA shines as it shifts the pressure to the rear lines of the “4-line split”.

The change in geometry turns the leading edge more stable as the new attachment points offer better structural support at those angles when inherently, the leading edge is supposed to be “softer”.

Under that flying configuration (gliding with the speed bar applied), we observe the most critical AoA, and It’s right there where the VPA works at its best, and that’s why the VPA was created. It aids the pressure shift to the rear lines of the “4-line split”. Mimicking the same solution given to higher-end gliders where the A attachment points are placed further back helps with the centre-of-mass shift to the front lines, resulting in a stronger and more collapse resistance leading edge in lower AoA.

Freedom2 has a true racing pedigree with awesome handling and agility. It’s also an incredibly fun wing to fly.

TECHNOLOGY

HYBRID 3 TO 2-LINE LAYOUT

The hybrid 3-2 line layout brings drastic drag reduction in comparison to the traditional 3-line layout.

Ultimately translating to increased gains in performance.

  • Better glide
  • More solidity
  • More efficiency
  • Higher top-end speed
  • Increased solidity at higher speeds

ADVANCED SHARK NOSE

The advanced shark nose profile is a stable pitch airfoil derived from our high-end 2-liners, which means:
  •
  • More solidity
  • Higher internal pressure
  • Fewer oscillations
  • More efficient glides
  • Higher Comfort

3D Cut Optimization and Advanced sail tensioning

Each panel and diagonals were structurally dimensioned and thoroughly computer analyzed to offer the most suitable chord and span-wise sail tension. The result is a canopy with less spanwise distortion giving a more taught and direct feel. Offering just enough flex characteristics to give the ideal feedback.

A well-tensioned sail is especially important to offer the pilot the right amount of feedback and feel of the air. It is especially important while thermaling to feel the nuances in areas of lift and sink more precisely, helping to find lift easier to stay in the core for longer.

VPA system (VARIABLE PRESSURE A-ATTACHMENT)

The new 4 ways A-attachment VPA (variable position A-attachment point) enhances the leading edge's structural stability, keeping the AoA positive, even when the glider’s AoA is at negative angles.

It’s a better solution geometrically and helps share the forces more evenly throughout the leading-edge span. The increased solidity is noticeable, especially when gliding at speed in turbulent air.

When the speed bar is applied, the VPA shifts the pressure to the rear lines of the “4-line split”.

The change in geometry turns the leading edge more stable as the new attachment points offer better structural support at those angles, we observe at the most critical AoA (ex., gliding at full bar). It’s where the VPA works at its best.

It aids the pressure shift to the rear lines of the “4-line split”.

Mimicking the exact solution given to higher-end gliders where the A attachment points are placed further back helps with the centre-of-mass shift to the front lines, resulting in a stronger and more collapse resistance leading edge in lower AoA.

NEW RACING ARC

The Freedom2 has a newly redesigned arc offering excellent roll authority for thermaling and “centring” thermals.

Near the tips, we have added a fair amount of wash-out to optimise glide angle and roll stability when gliding at speed.

The new arc also helps with overall line savings compared to version 1.

The new arc is inspired by our high-end gliders. It has a performance-oriented design.
